Is Clip Squeezer really free?
Yes. There are no subscriptions, watermarks, trial periods, advertisements, or locked features. The source code is public.
Does my video leave my computer?
No. The installed app processes video locally and works offline. It does not upload media or metadata.
Will it overwrite my original?
No. Each operation creates a separate output file.
Can it guarantee an exact compressed size?
No. Compression is quality-based and the content of each video differs. Clip Squeezer provides an estimate so you can choose a sensible starting point.
What formats can it convert to?
The current app offers MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, and GIF. A compatible container change may use stream copy; incompatible streams are re-encoded.
Does conversion always reduce file size?
No. Conversion changes compatibility. A stream copy is normally about the same size. Use Make smaller when size is the problem.
Is trimming lossless?
The app re-encodes trims so requested boundaries can be accurate instead of snapping to nearby keyframes. The output uses a high-quality profile.
Which audio option should I choose?
Original quality is fastest and avoids re-encoding where practical. MP3 offers the broadest compatibility. M4A provides modern, compact AAC audio.
Does it support Linux?
The currently planned desktop releases are Windows and macOS. Linux is not listed as a supported release platform.
Where do I report a problem?
Use the GitHub issue tracker. Include your OS, app version, task, source format, and copied technical details—never private media.
